Here we go...

So...it finally happened. I dropped my hubby off on Monday, March 1 for basic training. So maybe I should start from the beginning for all of those who don't know what the heck I am talking about. My husband joined that Army National Guard on Sept. 16 2009. He was assigned the date of March 1 2010 to go to Basic Combat Training. So that left him with about 5.5 months of wait time. In the National Guard, they do a weekend drill once a month, and then a special training 2 weeks a year. So Brock attended a special monthly drill for new recruits called the Recruit Sustainment Program. They just did PT-physical training and then had class time, learning the basics of the army. Well, he did that in Oct. Nov. Dec. Jan. and Feb. On Mar 1, I dropped him off at the Radisson Hotel at the airport. he spent the night there went to MEPS (military entrance processing station) for a final checkup, spent the night again and flew out to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Thursday morning. He will be gone for about 6-7 months depending on how his training goes. Basic training is only 10 weeks. He will then fly to Fort Huachuca, Arizona for AIT-advanced individual training for the rest. I will keep you updated on him, and then Brooklyn and I.
